There have been a number of new patterns and books out this term. Some of the designers being Bronwyn Hayes, Rosalie Quinlan, Melly and Me, Natalie Ross to name a few. Also new are reproduction cloth tape measures wound in wooden cases and gorgeous reproduction miniature silver pincushions in various shapes, including shoes, ballet slippers and various animals. Prices range from $30 to $55. At Christmas time don’t forget Tranquility Crafts have ‘Gift Vouchers’ available.

I will be attending a Trade Show during November so there are sure to be some great new products, books and patterns out in time for Christmas stitching or gift giving.

This year Tranquility Crafts will be closing for the Christmas break at 2pm on Wednesday 23rd December and will reopen on Tuesday 19th January 2010. Also don’t forget we will be open on Mondays during December (7th, 14th & 21st).

Mornington Embroidery Centre began in a April 2004 when ‘U’ Embroidery closed Frankston. I bought some of her stock and fittings, transferred excess stock from the wool centre and added lots more. We were up and running with a good range of embroidery threads, beads, jewellery findings, braids, laces, books, handcraft books and of course, Helan’s classes and workshops plus a variety of different classes.

In 2007 when Patchwork On The Peninsula decided to close I bought some of their stock and added lots more, so we now carry over 800 bolts of fabric (heading towards 1,000) and various patchwork books, patterns and accessories in addition to the previous stock and increased out class list to include patchworking.

We are now know as Mornington Embroidery & Patchwork Centre.

The Patchwork Teahouse started it’s life on the ‘other side’ of the river.  After only 18 months The Patchwork Teahouse moved across the river to it’s current location (a fantastic location) on the Warburton Highway, in an old hotel.

The Patchwork Teahouse is a wonderful combination of classic teahouse with a patchwork quilting shop. Take time to sample the delightful cakes and treats, I highly recommend the Devonshire Tea, before enjoying a leisurely browse of the awesome range of patchwork quilting fabrics, block of the month, patchwork kits, home made quilts, bags and accessories.

Patchwork quilting days are a regular at The Patchwork Teahouse, with Stitchery Days – where 4 to 18 girls come along for the day and choose a stitchery to do. As well as the chosen stitchery, morning tea is also supplied, then the girls stitch’n’chat, have lunch, do some more sewing, then enjoy cake and coffee for afternoon tea. The whole day will cost only $38 – which is an absolute treat!
